Three steps, and nobody is in a hurry any more

First the dry heat of the sauna, then the hot water of the tub under the open sky, and last the quiet of the salt room, with its salted air and stone walls. An old sequence, and a reliable one: it loosens a group and keeps it there, unhurried, until the fire burns down.

After a day of team building, or a day of celebrating, the sauna, the tub and the salt room are how we close it.

The sauna

A Finnish sauna in a cabin of its own, set out in the orchard. Through the wide window you watch the hills while the heat does its work, and next door there is a relaxation room kept just for you, for the pauses between rounds.

The hot tub

The tub, under the open sky

Hot water, outdoors, in any season. In winter it is a spectacle — steam rising through the falling snow, the hill white all around. In summer it is the perfect evening, with the whole sky full of stars above you.

The salt room

The last step. Rock-salt walls behind fir slats, crushed salt underfoot, and salted air all around. You sit on fir benches with your feet in the warmed salt, in a warm and quieting room — baskets full of salt crystals, and two carved salt lamps on the sill. Through the big window you look out at the tub and the green of the garden.
